We might possibly be having another new event of Sarah to look forward to. Check it out:
Sarah Jessica Parker is set to present the CFDA Board of Directors’ Special Tribute Award to the late designer Alexander McQueen at the June 7 CFDA Awards, WWD reports. McQueen dressed Parker for numerous red carpets, and clad both the actress and himself in tartans at 2006’s Costume Institute Benefit.
WWD has more details about the event: Caroline Kennedy will present the Eleanor Lambert Award to Vogue fashion director Tonne Goodman; Matt Tyrnauer directed the film for Geoffrey Beene Lifetime Achievement Award honoree Michael Kors; And Richard Press made the clip for Eugenia Sheppard Award honoree Kim Hastreiter.
Apparently Sarah doesn’t want anyone else to play Carrie in the prequel. I honestly can’t imagine anyone else as Carrie, can you?
In the newly released”The Carrie Diaries,” a written prequel of sorts to the “Sex and the City” series, readers follow a teenage Carrie Bradshaw as she navigates her senior year of high school. Now, with “Sex and the City 2″ mania heating up, it seems only a matter of time before the book gets the TV or film treatment. But who could fill the iconic Carrie’s shoes — as well as Sarah Jessica Parker?
MTV News recently caught up with the actress, who was promoting the “Sex” sequel opening May 17, and asked her.
“It’s so funny. It’s just been asked of me, of course, in the last 24 hours,” Parker told MTV News about how she’d react to another actress playing a younger Carrie. “It makes perfect sense [that another actress would be cast]. And I would like to be generous of spirit and say, ‘Of course,’ and, ‘I will do so if that is asked of me.’ ”
But Parker admitted she wasn’t entirely comfortable with the idea, referencing another iconic character known for her shoes.
“It’s just, I don’t know. I can’t imagine anyone else playing Dorothy Gale — just Judy Garland,” Parker smiled with a nod to “The Wizard of Oz.”
Parker can probably rest easy for now though, as adaptation plans seem to be a ways off. “The Carrie Diaries” author Candace Bushnell recently told MTV News, “It’s not in my hands, so there aren’t any plans at this moment. We don’t know what’s going to happen.”
Apparently Sarah will be narrating the Met’s American Woman Exhibit. She is very in demand these days, which is perfect for us!!
Not only does Vogue love Sarah Jessica Parker so much that it put her on its highly coveted May cover to correspond with the Met’s “American Woman” show, but Wintour and the Costume Institute gang have also tapped the quintessential American lady to narrate the patriotic exhibit!
On Tuesday, Parker recorded the guide to the “American Woman: Fashioning a National Identity” exhibit, which looks at women’s clothing from 1890 to 1940 and homegrown style movements such as the Gibson Girls, bohemians, and screen sirens.
“Because of Sex and the City, she is so much associated with New York and with America, and with using fashion as a way to shape identity,” Costume Institute curator Andrew Bolton explains to WWD.
And really, who could possibly better narrate a fashion exhibit than Parker, who perfected the art of the breathy voice-over in her six seasons as the ever-contemplative Carrie Bradshaw!
Luckily, from what we’ve heard on the Sex and the City 2 trailer, it seems the girl still has the hair-raising narration skills in her!
“It’s been two years,” Carrie says in the trailer. “And in two years, amazing things can happen. Things you thought would never happen in a million years. Just when you think you’ve seen it all, it hits you. You haven’t seen anything yet.”
We can only hope her explanation of the importance of mutton sleeves is half as enticing.
I have received several emails from very upset SJP fans, and I just wanted to clear the air. Some less-mature guy (probably Perez Hilton) started a rumor that Sarah had died, but calm down everyone. It was just an April Fools joke! Sarah is alive and healthy and probably laughing about this somewhere
April Fools’ is a day traditionally reserved for silliness worldwide — so sometimes it is therefore hard to separate the truth in reporting from all of the hoaxes. This one regarding “Sex and the City” star Sarah Jessica Parker emerged late Wednesday night — that the actress was dead following a car crash and husband Matthew Broderick is in critical condition — is just as false as some recent “death reports” involving Miley Cyrus and Kanye West.
Where did all of this come from? Someone trying to pass as Perez Hilton initially reported the news, but it ultimately didn’t amount to much of anything. Parker is reportedly doing fine, and she will be soon getting ready to embark on a promotional tour for the latest “Sex and the City” movie.
So while some April Fools’ Day jokes can be funny, there are clearly some that cross the line into “disturbing” territory. What do you say about classifying this rumor in the latter and moving on?
Are you shocked that someone falsely reported about Sarah Jessica Parker’s death? Feel free to share your thoughts below and stay tuned for more of the latest news.
Sarah and the Sex and the City gang are reported to be honored at the ShoWest Awards on March 18. Congratulations!!! Check it out:
The Sex And The City ladies are to be honoured for their on-screen rapport.
Sarah Jessica Parker, Kim Cattrall, Kristin Davis and Cynthia Nixon will add some glitz when they head up on stage to receive the film ensemble of the year gong at America’s ShoWest on March 18.
ShoWest’s Robert Sunshine said: “With the success of the first smash hit Sex And The City movie release, based on the hugely popular HBO series, the cast of Sex And The City 2 have already garnered commercial and critical success for their roles as four friends making their way through life and relationships in the big city.”
The foursome, who have had to deny claims of spats and falling out over the years, will reprise their roles as sassy quartet Carrie (Sarah Jessica), Samantha (Kim), Miranda (Cynthia) and Charlotte (Kristin) for the highly anticipated film sequel, which will be released on May 28.
Sarah attended Fashions Night Out a while back, and it appears that the event will be airing on CBS in it’s very own special. Check it out:
Fashion’s Night Out — the multi-city event invented to boost the slumping retail industry — will be the subject of a one-hour prime-time special on CBS, airing Sept. 15 at 8 p.m.
Now in its second year, the annual event was launched in 2009 by Vogue, the Council of Fashion Designers of America and NYC & Company in response to the striking decline in fashion retail sales sparked by the recession.
The TV special will focus on the second year of Fashion’s Night Out (scheduled for Sept. 10), taking viewers behind the scenes of its planning and preparation, then documenting the night itself in various cities around the world. Cameras will follow celebrities, designers, editors and retailers — though the organization’s not naming names yet. The special also will focus on a handful of undersung professionals in the fashion industry, including salespeople and design staff.
Last September, Fashion’s Night Out was staged in 13 different cities (including L.A.). In New York, where the organization is based, more than 800 stores in the five boroughs took part in the event — and celebrities including Sarah Jessica Parker and Bette Midler performed.
Turns out Sarah might not be the only one to have been a witchy woman:
In “Sex and the City,” Sarah Jessica Parker bewitched the Big Apple – and as it turns out, the “Sex” siren may be descended from witches!
The New England Historic Genealogical Society researched SJP’s family tree for a new NBC show “Who Do You Think You Are?” and discovered her family line “is connected to the Salem Witch Trials of 1692,” a Society spokesman said.
Researcher Josh Taylor worked with Parker in Boston last year to trace her roots for the show that takes a peek into the family history of a number of famous faces. The genealogically inclined boldfacers include Parker’s hubby Matthew Broderick, Hollywood stars Susan Sarandon and Brooke Shields, director Spike Lee, NFL legend Emmitt Smith and former “Friends” star – and show producer – Lisa Kudrow.
“We were asked to participate in the project in terms of helping to find the family background of a number of celebrities,” said NEHGS spokesguy Rick Stockwood. “And Sarah Jessica Parker actually came to Boston to meet with Josh and he gave her some information on her connection to Massachusetts.”
Society researcher Gary Boyd Roberts traveled to NYC to film a bit on family lines of European royalty. Word is, it may have something to do with Brooke Shields. A royal descendant perhaps?
Check it out when “Who Do You Think You Are?” premieres at 8 p.m. March 5.
Looks like Sarah will not be attending the Sex and the City 2 premiere, all for a good cause
Sarah Jessica Parker may be missing the premiere of “Sex and the City 2″ — and it’s not because the actress is too busy or has better things to do.
Carrie Bradshaw’s alter ego has donated her tickets to the event to the LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual and transsexual) cause in an auction for $11,000! Hollywood Life reports that the tickets were auctioned off at the Human Rights Campaign’s 9th annual gala at NYC’s Waldorf Astoria Hotel on Feb. 6.
Sarah Jessica was not the only star on hand at the event who took part in the auction. “Ugly Betty” star Michael Urie auctioned off a dinner date with himself (kisses included!). “Real Housewives of New York City” mother hen Jill Zarin and “Project Runway” mentor Tim Gunn donated a joint day of lunch and shopping to the highest bidder.
Jill was introduced as “the LGBT community’s favorite housewife” and kicked off the event by expressing her support of the cause. “I can’t stand the fact the LGBT Americans are still being treated like second class citizens,” she declared, garnering cheers and applause from the crowd.
The lucky bidder who snagged the “SATC 2″ tickets will have to wait until the Spring to check out the premiere, but we’re sure they are already planning their fabulous outfit!
